TechNode is looking for an intern to join its data desk in Shanghai to help us tell tech-centric stories by analyzing and visualizing data. The ideal candidate should be passionate about finding the narrative behind the numbers and presenting data in a compelling way.

About you

  • You’re able to work in a collaborative environment and communicate across teams

  • You are passionate about innovative multimedia projects and storytelling

What you will do:

  • Find, clean, and analyze datasets
  • Conceptualize and create data visualizations
  • Work on both short-term and long-term data projects alongside a team of beat reporters
  • Help to craft compelling data-driven stories

Required skills:

  • Understanding of statistics and data analysis
  • Comfortable using Python pandas or R
  • Some understanding of databases
  • Experience using a variety of visualization and mapping tools, including Mapbox, Leaflet, Datawrapper, Flourish, or Plotly. D3.js, HTML, and CSS skills are a plus
  • Able to identify possible stories by digging through data
